Stats & Damage — Building Your Champion in Realm of Aetherion

· Realm of Aetherion

Win or lose in Realm of Aetherion comes down to four numbers. Every champion has four aggregate stats, summed from your equipped NFTs plus your character's base and any active boosts. Understand them and you'll build loadouts that clear tiers others get stuck on.

The four stats

  • HP — your survivability pool. When a boss's retaliation drains it, you're defeated (and locked out of that boss for 2 hours).
  • Defense (DEF) — mitigates the retaliation a boss deals to you.
  • Speed (SPD) — shortens your strike cooldown, so you hit more often.
  • Base Damage — flat damage per strike, before multipliers.

The one rule that trips up new players

Characters contribute HP, DEF, and Speed only. Your weapons, armour, and accessories are the sole sources of damage.

That means a beautiful, high-rarity character with no weapon can survive forever but can't hurt anything. Balance your slots: a durable character to soak hits and set your cooldown, and strong weapons to actually kill the boss.

How Defense actually works

DEF uses diminishing returns with a symmetric formula:

Mitigation = DEF / (DEF + 1500)

So:

  • 1,500 DEF = 50% of incoming retaliation blocked
  • 4,500 DEF = 75% blocked

The same formula runs both ways — your DEF softens the boss's retaliation, and the boss's DEF softens your hits. Higher tiers carry more DEF, which is a big reason Infernal bosses take so many more strikes than Easy ones.

How Speed actually works

Speed reduces your aether-charge cooldown between strikes, up to a 50% cap — you can't hit infinitely fast, but a high-Speed build noticeably out-paces a slow one over a session. More strikes means more kills against your daily cap, which means more AETHER.

One important limit: the 2-hour post-defeat lockout ignores Speed entirely. Speed makes you efficient; it won't rescue you from a fight you can't survive.

Damage: base, rolls, and affinity

Your Base Damage isn't a fixed number per hit — each strike rolls a damage range, then gets modified by affinity. Every land has an element, and matching the countering element multiplies your damage by up to 1.25× (while bringing the countered element drops it to 0.75×). So real per-hit damage is: your gear's roll, times the affinity multiplier, minus the boss's DEF mitigation.

That's why the same weapon can feel dramatically stronger in one land than another — read Boss Ladder Strategy for the full affinity wheel.

A balanced build, in practice

  • Weapons first for damage — this is your only damage lever, so don't neglect it.
  • A high-rarity character for HP + DEF + Speed — survivability and cadence.
  • Fill every slot — armour and accessories add DEF, HP, and damage, and a full loadout is what gates you into higher tiers.
  • Aim for ~1,500+ DEF before Expert so retaliation doesn't defeat you mid-fight.
  • Add Speed once you're surviving comfortably to squeeze more kills from each daily cap.
