Aetherwell mechanics whitepaper · Draft v0.4

Wellspring Sanctum

Install an Aetherwell, sustain its Attunement with CHARGE, and Harvest two independent outcomes: an AETHER reward boost and a rarity-matched NFT drop roll.

01 · The Wellspring

The Sanctum

The Wellspring Sanctum is a twenty-slot Aetherwell farm. Each installed NFT opens one timed Attunement cycle whose economy is determined by that NFT's rarity.

A cycle consumes CHARGE only while active. If its reservoir runs dry, progress pauses without decaying and resumes after the player Infuses more CHARGE. A completed cycle is Harvested in the interface as an Unseal.

01Install

Place an owned Aetherwell NFT into an open Sanctum slot.

02Infuse

Convert AETHER into the CHARGE held by that cycle.

03Awaken

Start Attunement under the current published economy version.

04Attune

Accumulate active hours while CHARGE remains available.

05Harvest

Unseal the Base Reward Boost and NFT Drop rolls.

02 · Resource conversion

CHARGE and Base AETHER

CHARGE is the Sanctum's internal operating resource. It is purchased with AETHER and drained by the active Aetherwell; it is not a transferable token or separate wallet asset.

× 0.1 =
Base AETHERGuaranteed before Roll One

The completed cycle is base-neutral before fees. The guaranteed Base AETHER equals the AETHER used to purchase that cycle's Total CHARGE. Roll One then adds the published bonus.

03 · Nine rarity tiers

Rarity economy

Total CHARGE increases by 3.5× per rarity step and CHARGE per hour increases by 3×. Higher tiers therefore cost more and run moderately longer instead of stretching into multi-week cycles. Active Hours are rounded for display; Total CHARGE is authoritative.

Refill gate: Awakening purchases the first interval. Refill remains disabled while its live countdown is active, then unlocks at zero for exactly one next interval. Full-cycle prepayment is not available. The final refill is capped to the exact remaining CHARGE.

04 · Reward resolution

Two independent Harvest rolls

Every completed Harvest performs both rolls. Roll One modifies the guaranteed Base AETHER; Roll Two independently resolves exactly one NFT-related outcome.

Roll Two - NFT Drops

Shards and direct Aetherwell drops always match the harvesting Aetherwell's rarity. The two published bands below each total 100% and resolve exactly one row per Harvest.

Common - Epic

Waystone, Leyseed, Tideglass, and Riftstone.

Shard templates are now live. Each drop has a dedicated static NFT card and maps one-to-one to the Aetherwell of the same rarity. The circulating-supply policy remains pending.

Aetherwell Shards

The live crafting schema is shards. In the Sanctum, converting a complete set of matching Shards into its Aetherwell is called Aether Convergence. The live recipe consumes ten matching-rarity Shards plus the published AETHER fee to mint one matching Aetherwell.

06 · Operation policy

Cycle and custody rules

  • Twenty-slot ceilingA wallet can install no more than twenty Aetherwells in one Sanctum.
  • Safe pauseAttunement stops when CHARGE reaches zero; completed progress does not decay.
  • Independent rollsA Roll One result never changes or improves the Roll Two result.
  • Rarity matchingEvery Shard or direct Aetherwell from Roll Two matches the installed NFT's rarity.
  • Force Return forfeitsReturning an unfinished asset permanently forfeits spent and remaining cycle CHARGE, progress, and unclaimed rewards.
  • Completed cycles firstA ready-to-Harvest Aetherwell cannot be force returned. The player must Unseal it first.
  • No early rerollRefreshing, waiting, reconnecting, or retrying cannot be used to replace an outcome.
  • Versioned termsCosts and odds must be stored with the cycle so later economy updates cannot rewrite an active run.

Force Return is irreversible only after the NFT transfer succeeds. A failed AtomicAssets return must keep the operation recoverable for a safe retry instead of destroying the player's custody record.
